What is the Succession Families Forum?
It is a six-month programme designed to help farming families plan for the future. It combines one in-person workshop with five online sessions, supported by experienced facilitators.
Where and when are the in-person workshops?
You can choose to attend either Lanarkshire on 2 October or Warwickshire on 4 October. Each family attends one launch day.
Who should attend?
The programme is designed for the whole family – parents and children, whether or not they are actively farming. Everyone with a stake in the farm’s future can benefit.
What happens after the workshop?
Families join five monthly online sessions, each lasting two hours, building step by step towards a practical succession plan.
How much does the programme cost?
The full programme costs £500 per family. This includes the workshop, five online sessions, all materials, and facilitator support.
Do I have to share everything with my family or other attendees?
No. What you share is always your choice. The process is confidential, and if there are issues you would prefer to raise privately, the facilitators can support you with this.
I’m worried about being in a group – is it really helpful?
Yes. Many families have found real value in hearing from other farmers in the same position. It helps to know you are not alone and provides practical examples of how others have tackled similar challenges.
Who leads the programme?
The programme is facilitated by the Succession Alliance team: Matt Swain, Heather Wildman, they will be supported by Andy Guy and Michael Mack and others, alongside guest contributors.
How do we sign up?
Register your interest and one of our team will call you. We will talk through your family’s situation and make sure the programme is the right fit before confirming your place.
Is there any commitment when registering?
No. There is no commitment to attend or pay until after we have spoken with you and confirmed that the programme is right for your family.
